The Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ) has been provided its medium-range weather forecasts made on ECMWF’s model forecasts since 1995. Hungary, as a co-operative state of the ECMWF widely uses ECMWF’s archive and softwares. The OMSZ has been made intensive developments based on ECMWF’s models. The OMSZ has been taking part in ECMWF’s Educational Programme and some colleagues has been involved in research and developments done at ECMWF since 2004. The medium-range forecasts of OMSZ’s public web based on ECMWF’s probabilistic forecasts.

HAWK is an operational tool of the forecasters, used for visualising observed and forecasted meteorological data.

Air Quality Reference Centre (AQRC) carries out field and laboratory calibrations of gas analyzers of the Hungarian air quality network.

The Library of the Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ) is a scientific, public library that is taking on duties nationwide. Our aim is to collect and preserve all the Hungarian scientific and popular literature connected with meteorology.

Nominated officially as the ‘meteorological museum collection’, now it is to be found on the ground-, first- and second-floor lobbies of the OMSZ main building, in 26 cabinets, 8 archivers and 8 frames.
